Privacy Policy
Effective July 23, 2026
PasteGuard is a Chrome extension that checks supported web form fields for sensitive information and warns users before submission. Detection takes place locally within the user’s browser.
Information PasteGuard processes
To provide its warning feature, PasteGuard temporarily processes text entered in supported form fields. Depending on what a user enters, this content may include:
- personally identifiable information, including Singapore NRIC/FIN identifiers;
- financial and payment information, including payment card numbers;
- authentication information, including passwords, access tokens, JSON Web Tokens, and private keys; and
- website content, user-generated content, or personal communications.
This form content is processed transiently on the user’s device. PasteGuard does not store, log, upload, sell, or share the content or its detected values.
Information stored locally
PasteGuard uses chrome.storage.local to store:
- protection settings;
- enabled detector choices;
- critical-risk confirmation preferences; and
- website origins that the user explicitly chooses to trust.
This information remains in the user’s local Chrome profile. Users can change these settings and remove trusted origins from the extension’s options page. Removing the extension also allows Chrome to remove its locally stored data.
Permissions
- Storage access saves settings and trusted website origins locally.
- HTTP and HTTPS webpage access lets PasteGuard examine supported form fields at submission time and display a warning before sensitive information leaves the page.
These permissions are used only to provide PasteGuard’s user-facing protection feature.
Data transfers and third parties
PasteGuard does not operate a server that receives form content or locally stored extension settings. It does not sell user data, use user data for advertising or creditworthiness decisions, or allow humans to read user data. PasteGuard does not transfer user data to third parties.
Remote code
PasteGuard does not download or execute remote code. Its executable code is included in the extension package distributed through the Chrome Web Store.
Children
PasteGuard is a general-purpose browser safety tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
Changes to this policy
Material changes to this policy will be published on this page with an updated effective date. If a change requires additional disclosure or consent, it will be presented as required before the affected processing begins.
