PasteGuard is a Chrome extension that checks supported web form fields for sensitive information and warns users before submission. Detection takes place locally within the user’s browser.

Information PasteGuard processes

To provide its warning feature, PasteGuard temporarily processes text entered in supported form fields. Depending on what a user enters, this content may include:

This form content is processed transiently on the user’s device. PasteGuard does not store, log, upload, sell, or share the content or its detected values.

Information stored locally

PasteGuard uses chrome.storage.local to store:

This information remains in the user’s local Chrome profile. Users can change these settings and remove trusted origins from the extension’s options page. Removing the extension also allows Chrome to remove its locally stored data.

Permissions

These permissions are used only to provide PasteGuard’s user-facing protection feature.

Data transfers and third parties

PasteGuard does not operate a server that receives form content or locally stored extension settings. It does not sell user data, use user data for advertising or creditworthiness decisions, or allow humans to read user data. PasteGuard does not transfer user data to third parties.

Remote code

PasteGuard does not download or execute remote code. Its executable code is included in the extension package distributed through the Chrome Web Store.

Children

PasteGuard is a general-purpose browser safety tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

Changes to this policy

Material changes to this policy will be published on this page with an updated effective date. If a change requires additional disclosure or consent, it will be presented as required before the affected processing begins.
